Sharing Your Referral Link
How to find your personal referral code and share it via WhatsApp, email, direct link, or the built-in form
Sharing Your Referral Link
Every Yipii IoT user has a unique referral code and link. Your code is generated automatically the first time you visit the Referrals tab and stays the same forever — you never need to request a new one or worry about it expiring.
Your Referral Code
Your code follows the format I-XXXXXXXX — the letter I (for IoT) followed by a dash and eight alphanumeric characters. For example: I-AB3KNP7Y. The code deliberately avoids characters that look similar (O and 0, I and 1) so it is easy to read aloud or type manually.
Your full referral link combines this code with the Yipii website:
Both the code and the full link are displayed prominently at the top of your Referrals dashboard. You can copy either one with a single click.
Sharing Methods
The referral dashboard provides several built-in sharing options so you can send your link through the channel that suits your audience best.
Click the copy button next to your referral link to copy the full URL to your clipboard. Paste it anywhere — a text message, a LinkedIn post, a company newsletter, or an email you are already composing. This is the most flexible option because you control exactly how and where the link appears.
Click the WhatsApp button to open a new WhatsApp message pre-filled with your referral link and a short introductory message. You choose the recipient from your WhatsApp contacts. This works on both mobile (opens the WhatsApp app) and desktop (opens WhatsApp Web).
WhatsApp is particularly effective for referrals because the message feels personal rather than promotional. A quick "Hey, I use this for my fleet — thought you might find it useful" with the link attached tends to perform better than formal emails for many fleet professionals.
Click the Email button to open your default email client with a pre-filled subject line and body containing your referral link. You add the recipient's email address and send. Customise the message before sending if you want to add a personal note.
Email works well for more formal referrals — reaching out to a business contact you met at a conference, forwarding to a logistics partner, or including in a business introduction.
Native Share
On mobile devices that support the Web Share API, a Share button appears that opens your device's native sharing menu. This gives you access to every sharing app installed on your phone — Telegram, Slack, SMS, social media, Notes, and any other app that accepts shared links.
What Happens When Someone Clicks Your Link
When a prospect clicks your referral link, the following happens:
- A referral cookie is set — The link stores your referral code in the visitor's browser for 30 days. This means even if they do not fill out the form immediately, your referral is preserved if they return within a month.
- They are redirected to a lead capture form — The form is hosted on the Yipii website and displays a personalised message: "You were referred by [your first name] from [your company]." This builds trust and confirms to the prospect that they landed in the right place.
- The form captures their details — The prospect enters their name, email, phone, fleet size, and fleet type. They can also indicate whether they have already spoken to you about Yipii (marking themselves as a "hot lead").
- You receive a notification — As soon as the prospect submits the form, you get an email notification confirming that a new referral lead has been created and linked to your account.
Tips for Effective Sharing
Be specific about the benefit. Instead of "check out Yipii," try "this saved us 4 hours a week on delivery tracking — might work for your fleet too." Specific, personal endorsements convert dramatically better than generic recommendations.
Share at the right moment. The best time to refer is when someone mentions a problem that Yipii solves — lost vehicles, delivery tracking headaches, driver behaviour concerns, or maintenance scheduling chaos. A referral in context is worth ten cold shares.
Use WhatsApp for warm leads. If you have already discussed fleet tracking with someone, a WhatsApp message feels like a natural follow-up. For broader outreach (LinkedIn posts, newsletter mentions), use the copy link option.
Follow up. After sharing your link, check in with the person a few days later. Ask if they had any questions or if they filled out the form. A gentle follow-up can be the difference between a lead that converts and one that gets forgotten in a busy inbox.
