Yipster AI Assistant

Manage your fleet with natural language — create work orders, log fuel, schedule maintenance, and query fleet data through AI-powered chat

Yipster AI Assistant

Yipster is your AI-powered fleet management assistant built into the Yipii Mobility dashboard. Go beyond simple fleet queries — create work orders, log fuel entries, schedule maintenance, and manage daily fleet operations through natural language conversation. Yipster understands your fleet context and handles the heavy lifting so you can focus on running your operation.

Yipster AI chat panel on desktop

The Mobility version of Yipster includes everything available in IoT — live fleet status, trip analytics, driver coaching — plus the ability to take action directly from the chat. Tell Yipster to create a work order and it drafts one for you, shows you a preview, and only commits it to the system after you confirm. This preview-and-confirm pattern ensures nothing is created or modified without your explicit approval.

Getting Started

Opening Yipster

Click the AI Assistant toggle button (sparkle icon) in the header bar. The Yipster panel slides in from the right side of the screen, letting you keep your current page open while chatting. You can create a work order through Yipster while reviewing the asset list, without losing your place.

Panel Layout

When you first open Yipster, the panel displays:

  • Avatar and greeting — Yipster's avatar image with "Hey there!" and "I'm Yipster, your AI fleet assistant"
  • Suggested prompts — Four quick-start prompts tailored to Mobility workflows:
    • Work orders — "Show open work orders"
    • Service due — "Which vehicles need service soon?"
    • Inspections — "Any overdue inspections?"
    • Fleet costs — "Show this month's expenses"
  • Chat input — Message box with a send button at the bottom
  • Panel controls — "New chat" and "Close Yipster panel" buttons at the top of the panel
  • Powered by Yipii AI — Displayed at the bottom of the panel

Click any suggested prompt to send it immediately, or type your own question in the message box.

Your First Question

Type a question in the message box and press Enter. Yipster responds in real time with streaming text — you see the answer build word by word.

Good first questions for Mobility users:

  • "What work orders are open right now?"
  • "Which vehicles are due for service this week?"
  • "Log fuel for Truck-01 — 65 litres at the Shell on Main Street"
  • "Create a work order for an oil change on Van-03"

What Yipster Can Do

Yipster's capabilities in Mobility span both read operations (querying data) and write operations (creating records). Write operations always go through a preview-and-confirm flow so you maintain full control.

Read Operations

These tools let you query your fleet data instantly without navigating through the dashboard.

Fleet Status (Live)

Ask about your fleet's real-time position and status.

Example questions:

  • "How many vehicles are moving right now?"
  • "Where is Truck-01?"
  • "Which vehicles have been idle for more than an hour?"
  • "Give me a fleet summary"

Yipster reads the live GPS data from your trackers — position, speed, ignition, heading, and time in current status — and presents it in a clear summary.

Work Orders

Review open, in-progress, and completed work orders.

Example questions:

  • "What work orders are open?"
  • "Show me overdue work orders"
  • "What maintenance was done on Van-03 this month?"
  • "How many work orders were completed last week?"

Service Schedules

Check upcoming and overdue maintenance schedules.

Example questions:

  • "Which vehicles are due for service?"
  • "When is Truck-01's next oil change?"
  • "Show me overdue service schedules"
  • "What services are scheduled for next week?"

Fuel Logs

Review fuel consumption history and patterns.

Example questions:

  • "How much fuel did the fleet use last month?"
  • "Show me fuel entries for Truck-01"
  • "What's the average fuel consumption across all vehicles?"

Inspections

Check inspection history and outstanding items.

Example questions:

  • "Are there any failed inspections this week?"
  • "Show me the latest inspection for Van-03"
  • "Which vehicles haven't been inspected this month?"

Driver Scoring & Coaching

Get driver performance data and AI-generated improvement tips, same as in IoT.

Example questions:

  • "What's the driver score for Truck-01?"
  • "Who are my lowest-scoring drivers?"
  • "Give me coaching tips for the driver of Van-12"

For more detail on scoring methodology, see Drivers.

Diagnostics & Connectivity

Troubleshoot vehicle health and tracker connectivity issues.

Example questions:

  • "Does Truck-05 have any fault codes?"
  • "Why is Van-07 offline?"
  • "Which trackers have low signal?"

Account & Subscription

Check your plan, features, and available add-ons.

Example questions:

  • "What plan am I on?"
  • "What add-ons do I have?"
  • "How much of my AI budget have I used?"

Write Operations

Yipster can create records in your fleet management system. Every write operation follows a preview-and-confirm flow to ensure nothing is created without your approval.

Create Work Orders

Tell Yipster what maintenance or repair work is needed and it drafts a work order for you.

Example:

You: Create a work order for an oil change on Truck-01

Yipster: Here's the work order I'll create:

FieldValue
AssetTruck-01
TitleOil Change
PriorityMedium
StatusOpen

Shall I go ahead and create this?

You: Yes, go ahead

Yipster: Done! Work order #1042 "Oil Change" has been created for Truck-01. You can view it in Work Orders.

The preview shows you exactly what will be created before anything is committed. You can modify the details ("Actually, make it high priority") or cancel entirely.

More examples:

  • "Create a work order to replace the brake pads on Van-03, high priority"
  • "Log a work order for Truck-18 — engine misfire investigation"
  • "Schedule a tyre rotation for all delivery vans"

Log Fuel Entries

Record fuel purchases directly through chat without navigating to the fuel log form.

Example:

You: Log fuel for Truck-01 — 72 litres of diesel at the BP on Harbor Road, cost was 120 euros

Yipster: Here's the fuel entry I'll record:

FieldValue
AssetTruck-01
Fuel typeDiesel
Quantity72 litres
Total cost€120.00
LocationBP, Harbor Road

Shall I save this?

You: Yes

Yipster: Fuel entry recorded for Truck-01. That works out to €1.67 per litre.

More examples:

  • "Log 45 litres of diesel for Van-03, cost 78 euros"
  • "Record a fuel stop — Truck-09 filled up with 80 litres at Shell"

Schedule Maintenance

Set up future maintenance tasks and service schedules through conversation.

Example:

You: Schedule an oil change for Truck-01 every 10,000 km

Yipster: Here's the maintenance schedule I'll create:

FieldValue
AssetTruck-01
ServiceOil Change
IntervalEvery 10,000 km
Based onOdometer reading

Shall I set this up?

More examples:

  • "Schedule a brake inspection for Van-03 every 6 months"
  • "Set up a tyre rotation reminder for all trucks at 15,000 km intervals"

The Preview-and-Confirm Flow

Every write operation in Yipster follows the same pattern:

  1. You describe what you want — in natural language, with as much or as little detail as you like
  2. Yipster shows a preview — a clear summary of exactly what will be created, with all fields visible
  3. You confirm or modify — say "yes" to proceed, ask for changes ("make it high priority"), or say "cancel" to abort
  4. Yipster executes and confirms — creates the record and shows you the result with a reference number

This pattern is a deliberate safety measure. Fleet management records have operational consequences — a work order triggers maintenance workflows, a fuel entry affects consumption reports, a service schedule creates future reminders. The preview step ensures that a misunderstood instruction doesn't create incorrect records in your system.

AI Admin

The AI Admin page is available in the sidebar under System. This administration page lets you manage AI settings for your organization, including configuration options that control how Yipster behaves across your account.

Contextual Awareness

Yipster knows what you're currently viewing in the dashboard. If you're on the asset detail page for "Truck-01" and ask "Create a work order for an oil change," Yipster understands you mean Truck-01 without you needing to specify it.

This context awareness works across:

  • Asset pages — Yipster knows which vehicle you're viewing
  • Work order pages — Questions can reference the work order on screen
  • Inspection pages — Yipster understands the current inspection context
  • Map view — Yipster knows your selected vehicle and viewport

Conversations & History

Persistent Conversations

Your conversation persists across page navigations and browser sessions. Close the panel to check the map, come back, and your chat is exactly where you left it. Partially drafted work orders and fuel entries survive page changes.

Starting Fresh

Click the New Chat button at the top of the chat panel when switching topics. A fresh conversation gives Yipster clean context and avoids confusion from previous queries.

Follow-Up Suggestions

After each response, Yipster suggests 2-3 contextually relevant follow-up questions. If you just created a work order, the suggestions might include "Show me all open work orders" or "Schedule a service reminder for this vehicle." Click any suggestion to ask it instantly.

Credit Budget & Usage

Yipster uses a credit-based system to measure usage. Credits are consumed each time you interact with the AI — every question and answer uses credits from your monthly allowance.

Checking Your Usage

The credit usage bar appears at the bottom of the chat panel. You can also ask Yipster: "How much of my AI budget have I used?"

The display shows:

  • Credits used this billing period
  • Credits remaining in your monthly allowance
  • Percentage used as a visual progress bar
  • Reset date — first of each month, midnight UTC

Monthly Credit Allowances

PlanMonthly Credit AllowanceTypical Usage
Free100K credits~20-30 basic questions
Starter1.0M credits~100-150 questions
Pro5.0M credits~250-400 questions
EnterpriseCustomTailored to your fleet size

Write operations (creating work orders, logging fuel) tend to use slightly more credits than read operations because they involve the preview step and confirmation.

What Happens When You Run Out

Yipster warns you when you pass 90% usage. At the limit, Yipster explains the situation and suggests upgrading. Your budget resets on the first of each month automatically. Unused credits do not roll over.

Upgrading Your Allowance

Navigate to Settings > Billing to review plans and upgrade, or ask Yipster: "What plan should I be on?" Yipster analyses your usage patterns and recommends the best plan for your fleet size and activity level.

Example Conversations

Morning Operations Kickoff

You: Good morning. What's the fleet status and any open work orders?

Yipster: Good morning! Your fleet has 28 vehicles — 12 are moving, 9 are idle, and 7 are parked. You have 4 open work orders: brake pad replacement for Van-03 (high priority, overdue), oil change for Truck-01 (medium, due this week), windshield repair for Car-07 (low), and tyre rotation for Truck-18 (medium).

You: Log fuel for Van-03 — 55 litres diesel, 95 euros, at the Enemed on Marsa Road

Yipster: Here's the fuel entry:

FieldValue
AssetVan-03
Fuel typeDiesel
Quantity55 litres
Cost€95.00
LocationEnemed, Marsa Road

Shall I save this?

You: Yes

Yipster: Recorded. That's €1.73 per litre. Van-03's average this month is €1.68/L.

Proactive Maintenance

You: Which vehicles are due for service this week?

Yipster: Two vehicles have service due this week:

  1. Truck-01 — Oil change due at 45,000 km (currently at 44,800 km)
  2. Van-12 — Brake inspection due 3 March

You: Create a work order for Truck-01's oil change, schedule it for Tuesday

Yipster: Here's the work order:

FieldValue
AssetTruck-01
TitleOil Change (45,000 km service)
PriorityMedium
ScheduledTuesday, 4 March 2026

Create this work order?

You: Yes, and make it high priority

Yipster: Created work order #1043 "Oil Change (45,000 km service)" for Truck-01, set to high priority, scheduled for Tuesday 4 March.

Driver Coaching Session

You: Show me the worst driver scores this week

Yipster: Here are the three lowest scores this week:

  1. Van-12 — Score: 54 (D). 12 harsh braking events, 8 harsh acceleration
  2. Truck-09 — Score: 61 (C). Speeding on 3 trips
  3. Car-03 — Score: 67 (C). Harsh cornering on urban routes

You: Coaching tips for the Van-12 driver?

Yipster: Based on the data:

  • Most harsh braking happened when following closely in traffic — encourage maintaining a 3-second following distance
  • Harsh acceleration events peaked during morning departures. Taking 5-8 seconds to reach speed after stops would improve this significantly
  • Route analysis shows repeated harsh events at the Main Street / Harbour Road junction — approaching at lower speed would help

IoT vs Mobility Capabilities

Tips & Best Practices

Be Specific for Write Operations

When creating records, include as much detail as possible in your initial message. This reduces back-and-forth and gets you to the preview faster:

  • Good: "Create a high-priority work order for Truck-01 — replace front brake pads, scheduled for Friday"
  • Less efficient: "Create a work order" (Yipster will need to ask which vehicle, what work, what priority)

Use Context to Your Advantage

Navigate to a vehicle's detail page before asking Yipster about it. The contextual awareness means you can say "Create a work order for this vehicle" instead of specifying the vehicle name.

Check Before You Create

Before creating a work order, ask "Are there any open work orders for Truck-01?" to avoid duplicates. Yipster can check existing records before drafting new ones.

Review the Preview Carefully

The preview step exists for a reason. Take a moment to verify the asset name, dates, quantities, and other details before confirming. It's much easier to correct a preview than to delete an incorrect record after the fact.

Start Fresh for New Topics

When switching from querying data to creating records (or vice versa), start a new conversation to give Yipster clean context.
